5 major action points could be formulated and adopted to launch as well as accelerate the Cleanliness mission. These are
EMPHASIS ON PERSONAL HYGIENE AND CLEANLINESS AT HOME
The drainage pipes, sewage tanks and terrace must be checked in uniform intervals so as to ascertain whether there is any possible leakage or breakage and should be repaired if found to be faulty or damaged as soon as possible.
There should be no accumulation of water from water coolers, near wells, taps, drains bathrooms and water to be covered to prevent inbreeding of disease causing mosquitoes, flies, bacteria, fungus or any othermicroorganism.
The walls of the houses, rooftops, should be dusted both interior andexterior.
The gardens should be made free from harmful weeds /bushes and there should be proper management to stop growth of any bushes which might become breeding place for mosquitoes orsnakes.
SEGREGATION OF WASTE MATERIALS AND PROPERDISPOSAL
Wet/Kitchen Waste category– all leftovers coming from the kitchen, garden and food
Dry recyclable wastes– newspapers and more
Sanitary wastes are for example diapers, synthetic napkins; hygiene related products soiled clothes, medical wastes consisting of linens, bedding, and blood or body fluids contaminated, and dressingmaterial.
E-wastes like Refrigerators, Microwave oven, tube lights, chargers, cables phones, batteries amd cartridges should be properly sealed in a tight container.
PROVISION OF BIO OR SMART TOILETS
The major benefits of this Smart toilet is that it can be established using easily available resources, reduction in water or solid wastage and electricity , eliminating the need of sewage treatment plants by which lot of funds could be saved for other meaningful activities for development in the villageT echnicians and trained professionals will be deployed to undertake the initiative so as to help the villages in the construction of Bio-Toilet at their houses.
ENCOURAGEMENT OF SUSTAINABLE METHODS
People should refrain from making the rivers dirty by releasing chemicals or waste materials into the ponds, catchments or rivers. Each household has been provided with supply of water through pipes to ensure constant supply of water which should be used for drinking, washing, irrigation and bathing.
No accumulation of water should be there and proper drainage should be made at each house for flow and drainage. The drainage system in the entire village has been facilitated in well maintained manner so that there is no stagnation of water and the waste water is channelized to the specific treatment plants in the village.
REGULAR MEETINGS, COMPETITIONS AND GRIEVANCE REDRESS
Competitions will be organized in three categories:
- a) Best & Most Clean Household
- b) Individual (s) maintaining or contributing in cleanliness of thevillage
- c) Innovative Idea or Initiative either by individual or a group of people in maintaining cleanliness of the village.
The competitions for first two categories will be organized once in every three months and will be rewarded with cash amount. This will promote a healthy encouragement as well as bring in inspiration to thepeople.
To summarize, these 5 points if adopted in coherence with each other to bring in more sustainability as well as happier and peaceful environment in the village and make it a better place for each one of us to live in!!!
